Drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers out of high school, Williams would embark on a 13-year playing career as a utility man for five Major League Baseball teams. But it was his success as a MLB manager that made him one of the great dugout leaders of the 20th century. Williams managed three different teams to pennants and the World Series, winning two WS titles directing the Oakland A's in 1972 and 1973. He won 1,571 career games for six teams.
