Although she never won a state team championship, Geralyn "Jeri" Shepard distinguished herself as a long-time PCC women's tennis coach. She coached back-to-back state individual singles champions in Mary Ellis (1980) and Anna Marie Bernstein (1981), who won the JC Grand Slam--Metropolitan Conference, Ojai, regional and state titles. She directed two SoCal team champions and three conference champion teams. She pioneered the co-ed mixed doubles tennis program and engineered state team titles in that sport in 1971, 1974, and 1979. She helped with the growth of women's tennis in California and was rewarded when the state honored her by selecting her to the CCCAA Hall of Fame in 2005. A bronze bust in her image is now part of the Dick Ratliff Court of Champions at PCC.
