A PCC tennis great, Hugh Stewart won the triple crown of his time when he captured the Western State Conference, Ojai Tournament, and national JCAA singles crowns. He also won the national JC doubles title with teammate Fred Houghton. In 1951 while at USC, Stewart won the NCAA doubles championship and helped the Trojans win the team title. In 1952, he won the NCAA singles title. A 4-time Ojai Tournament Open doubles champion, Stewart was also a member of the U.S. Davis Cup team. He made it to the round of 16 in singles at both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. In 2011, he was inducted into the Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA) Hall of Fame in the same class as women's tennis all-time great Billie Jean King.
