Pasadena City College has named Steven Mojarro interim head football coach, effective immediately. He replaces Tom Maher, who will continue his full-time position as a tenured faculty member within the Kinesiology, Heath & Athletics Division.
Mojarro is in his second season at PCC, having served as an assistant offensive line coach in 2016. He previously was a head coach at East Los Angeles College from 2012-2014, and was an assistant for the Huskies program from 2008-2011. He also spent a season as an assistant coach for Compton College. Since 2010, Mojarro has seen more than 150 players he's coached move on to the 4-year university level.
At the prep level, Mojarro went from Huntington Park High (2002) to South Gate (2003-2005) and then Roosevelt High (2006-2008) as both an offensive line and assistant head coach.
Mojarro's PCC head coaching debut will be against Long Beach City College in the Lancers' season opener on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. The game will be played at PCC's Robinson Stadium.
