PCC v. EAST LOS ANGELES THIS SATURDAY AT ROBINSON STADIUM, 6 PM

This Saturday's Homecoming Game between Coach Steven Mojarro's Lancers and East Los Angeles College could be the most important game for the football program in nine years as a win will keep the team in the running for a possible Metro League title. Kickoff at Robinson Stadium is 6 p.m.

ELAC and PCC are both 5-3 overall, but the Lancers are tied with another 5-3 team in Santa Ana for the Metro lead with perfect 4-0 records. The Lancers play at Santa Ana in the regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Dons play West LA this weekend so the circumstances could change depending on Saturday's outcomes.

Pasadena continues to be tied for the state lead in interceptions with 19 (with San Diego Mesa). The Lancers defense has shut down opponents in the last two games, holding both Glendale and LA Southwest to just a touchdown each. Meanwhile, the team's offense has scored 30 or more points in each of the games during the win streak.

Sophomore kicker-punter Enrique Lozano is fourth in the state in kick scoring (56 points, including eight field goals) and eighth in California in punting average at 38.3 yards per game. PCC's rushing game has been strong of late as both sophomores James Shaw and Amad Andrews have reached the 400-yard mark through eight games.

In the team's last 11 quarters of play, the Lancers have outscored their opponents, 117-21.
