All-Metro League First Team tight end Jordan Bruner heads a group of 13 Pasadena City College football players who have earned scholarships to 4-year universities, according to head coach Steven Mojarro.

Bruner is going to NCAA Division 1 Abilene Christian University (Texas) after a dependable two seasons for the Lancers. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder caught 42 passes for 572 yards in 2016 and 2017, including four touchdown grabs in his sophomore season. Before coming to PCC, Bruner attended Palo Verde High in Las Vegas.

Offensive linemen Art Rios (6-2, 310, Roosevelt High) and David Zulalyan (6-3, 325, Schurr HS) accepted scholarships to D-2 Wayne State University (Nebraska). Both players were guards on the PCC line.

Safety Siaki Alualu (St. Louis High, Hawaii) was signed by D-2 Azusa Pacific University. Also going D-2 are 2015-16 wide receiver Rasheem Whitfield (Northwest High, Cincinnati, Ohio) to Central State University (Ohio) and linebacker/long snapper Niko Johnson (West Covina High) to Eastern New Mexico. Whitfield had 16 receptions for 200 yards as a sophomore. Defensive back Matt Dalrymple (Hacienda Heights' Wilson High) will play for D-3 Pacific University (Oregon).

All-Metro Second Team running back Amad Andrews (Alemany HS, 93 carries, 512 yards, four touchdowns last year) is at NAIA Dickinson State (North Dakota) along with defensive end Matthew Perez (Schurr High, 17 tackles, a sack, two fumble recoveries). All-MC Second Team linebacker Jasper Chavez (Rosemead HS), the team's leading tackler with 55, including a team-best 27 solos, is one of three Lancers at NAIA Kansas Wesleyan University. Defensive end Richard Ortega (Schurr, 15 tackles, a sack) and offensive lineman Alex Gutierrez (5-11, 280, Bishop Amat) will also attend/play for the KWU Coyotes.

Tight end Donald Davis (Hammond HS, Louisiana), who also played on the PCC defensive line last year, rounds out the initial Lancers transfer group in signing with NAIA Missouri Baptist University.

"These players are already placed and we have another group of sophomores that either haven't decided or are working on academics to qualify for transfer," Mojarro said. "The sophomores were part of a turnaround year for the program. We went .500 and it's something to build on going into the 2018 season."
