Offensive lineman Demarcus Gilmore is one of nine Lancers football players moving on to 4-year universities for their junior seasons in 2019.

Nine sophomores from the 2018 Pasadena City College football team are heading to 4-year universities, according to head coach Steven Mojarro, who indicated a group of 10 other players will make decisions on their future later this summer.

(Editor's Note: Gilmore switches colleges, originally listed as committing to Sam Houston State) All-SCFA First Team offensive tackle Demarcus Gilmore (Newberry High, South Carolina) has signed a scholarship to NCAA Division I FCS Townson University (Baltimore, Maryland). Gilmore led a Lancers offensive line that topped the state in ball-control, time of possession.

Another All-SCFA First Teamer and defensive lineman David Vardanian (La Canada High) has decided to walk-on at UCLA. Vardanian was the team's top tackler (49) this past season.

Leading rusher and running back Sultaan Sullivan (688 yards, Serrano High) signed on with DII Eastern New Mexico University. Cornerback Jshoun Wolfe, a member of the 2017 Lancers, also accepted a scholarship to ENM. Ironically, both players wore the No. 2 while playing at PCC.

Four Lancers are transferring to NAIA Dickinson State University (North Dakota) in offensive tackle Eric Rauda (Schurr High) defensive lineman Andrew Madrigal (Schurr HS) and defensive backs Torus Stepney Jr. (Pasadena High) and Austin Adolphus (Duarte HS). Center Alejandro Corona (Alhambra High) is moving on to NAIA Friends University (Kansas). Linebacker Kobe Quiroga (40 tackles, Northview HS) signed with NAIA Central Methodist University (Missouri).

Late signees from the 2017 season saw All-SCFA defensive back Ty Apana-Purcell slated to attend DI FSC Portland State and that season's leading, All-State wide receiver Stevie Williams transfer to NAIA Kansas Wesleyan University. Williams caught three touchdown passes in KWU's Spring Game in April. Others moving on late from the '17 team are defensive back Raysean Clayton to DII Henderson State (Arkansas), All-State punter-kicker Enrique Lozano to Dickinson State, defensive lineman Josh Martinez to Friends, and defensive lineman Devaughn Bennett to NAIA Southeastern Florida.

The Lancers hope to bounce back in the 2019 season after a 4-6 year in 2018. PCC opens the year though on a 2-game win streak. The Lancers will play at College of the Desert in their '19 season opener on Sept. 7 in a 7 p.m. kickoff. Pasadena's home schedule on its renovated new artificial turf surface at Robinson Stadium is Sept. 14 against local rival Glendale College (6 p.m.). All Lancers games are played on Saturdays.
