Robinson Sparks Men's Cagers In OT Win Over LATT

Pasadena City College men's basketball team snap a 10-game losing streak in an 84-78 victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech Friday. The South Coast Conference North Division game was part of Coaches vs. Cancer Night at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

After PCC let a late 11-point lead slip away, the freshman Robinson (from Fontana's Summit High) made a free throw with 20 seconds left that sent the game to OT at 69-69. In the OT, he made back-to-back 3-point bombs that allowed the Lancers to take control of the extra session.

Pasadena improved to 5-19 and won for the first time in conference play at 1-4. Trade Tech dropped to 2-19 and is tied with the Lancers in fourth place in the division at 1-4. 

The Lancers overcame 37 turnovers and had several different players make huge contributions to the win. Freshman guard Jamon Moore scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds, dished out six assists and made three steals. He was 8-for-10 from the free throw line. 

Frosh guard Todd Barnes added 15 points and seven rebounds while transfer forward Darrell Childs had a big second half against his former college and finished with eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Off the bench, Aaron Yu netted four 3-pointers for his 12 points.

Starting frosh point guard Tey Williams chipped in nine points, eight rebounds and five assists while sophomore forward Jeremy Jean made two late 3-pointers as part of his nine points. 

Trade Tech was paced by Kieshaun Young-Jones, who scored 22 points and made seven steals, and Donte Medford with 20 points. 

The game featured 15 lead changes. PCC led 37-29 at halftime. On Wednesday, Feb. 10, the Lancers next play at El Camino College-Compton Center. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
