An above .500 team on Jan. 6 at 8-7, the Pasadena City College men's basketball team has since encountered the whopper of all slumps. The Lancers were dealt their eighth straight loss, 95-64, Friday night against state No 11 East Los Angeles at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. PCC remains winless in South Coast Conference North Division play at 0-6..

PCC's woes included being outscored by 30 or more points for the third time in conference play. On Jan. 26, host Chaffey sent the Lancers to their worst loss of the season, 83-45. In between, Pasadena teased itself, leading by seven in the second half and staying tied with Rio Hondo going into the final 100 seconds before falling to the Roadrunners, 63-59, on Jan. 31.

Pasadena (8-15 overall) surrendered a season-worst points allowed against ELAC (20-5), now tied with Mt. San Antonio for first place in the SCC North, both at 5-1. The Huskies were paced by Roderick Williams with 24 points and nine rebounds. Frank Bertz and Darius Henderson each hit four 3-pointers as part of ELAC's 13 treys overall and an efficient 50 percent accuracy.

The Lancers received 13 points from Ross Lee and 12 points plus five rebounds by Kyle Mitchell. Josiah Woods added 10 points off the bench while Ivan Egbunike had six points and eight rebounds in reserve. Starting guard Malik Black contributed nine points and three steals.

Against Chaffey, Black broke the team's dubious streak of four straight games without a single starter reaching double digits in points as he scored 11.

PCC's offense reached 60 points for the first time in six games.

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, Pasadena next hosts LA Trade Tech in a 7 p.m. tip-off. It is Coaches v. Cancer Night at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.
