From 2009-2016, the Pasadena City College men's swim team made seven trips to Northern California that included a regular dual meet against host Diablo Valley College. The Lancers lost all seven of them. On Mar. 10, the Lancers ended the slump and edged the Vikings, 83-81.
Sydney Odent scored nine points with his victory in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.57) and those were the deciding points to give PCC the team meet win. Odent also won the 400 individual medley (4:18.22). Samuel Jo tallied three freestyle event wins in the 50 (22.51), 100 (48.40) and 200 (1:47.43) swims.
Jayson Wilia scored a win in the 200 butterfly in 2:01.50. Cameron Sauve placed second in the 500 freestyle at 5:17.48 while teammate Leo Nuntapramote was third in that event (5:21.89). Those seven points also served as big scores for the team.
"DVC coach Rick Millington has won several state team titles so for us to beat them is a huge accomplishment," said PCC head coach Terry Stoddard. "Samuel and Sydney were consistent and helped lead the way."
