Michael Humphrey came up with some huge performances to score the bronze medal in the 400-yard individual medley and a fourth place in the 200 butterfly in representing the Pasadena City College men's swim team at the CCCAA State Championships held May 2-4 at De Anza College.
Team scoring at conference swimming and diving championships is as much about depth than anything else. Last year, the Lancers won nine events, dominating the gold medal recognitions at the 2018 South Coast Conference Championships. Yet, the team scored 539 points and it resulted in third place as a team. This year, PCC did not win a single event but its 442 points was good enough for that same third place at the SCC meet held April 18-20 at conference champion Mt. San Antonio College.
The Pasadena City College men's swim team placed sixth out of 15 teams at the 19th Pasadena Invitational held April 4-6 at the Aquatic Center. Individually, Lancers freshman Michael Humphrey was fourth in individual points scoring with 61.
A streak that started in 2017 is over for the Pasadena City College men's swim team. The Lancers saw their 15-meet winning streak in South Coast Conference duals come to an end Friday as Mt. San Antonio defeated them, 230-48, to win the 2019 SCC dual title at PCC's Aquatic Center.
With one top swimmer suddenly unavailable due to an injury minutes before the meet, the Pasadena City College men's swim team didn't miss a beat, extending the program's South Coast Conference dual meet streak to 15 consecutive wins in defeating Cerritos, 141-102, and LA Trade Tech, 183-20, Friday at the Aquatic Center.
It couldn't get much closer, but the Pasadena City College men's swim team kept its South Coast Conference dual meet winning streak going at 13 with a slim 139-132 win over El Camino while also defeating host Rio Hondo, 178-92, on Friday. The streak dates back to the 2017 season.
The Pasadena City College men's swim team ran its program win streak to 11 consecutive victories in South Coast Conference meets going back to 2017 by defeating Chaffey, 149-111, and host Long Beach City, 173-71, on Friday. The Lancers are the defending dual meet conference champions.
While the success of the 2018 Pasadena City College men's swim team will be next to impossible to match, the Lancers and head coach Terry Stoddard has reloaded his '19 roster with some key freshmen recruits that will allow PCC to be a competitive crew this season.
