Michael Humphrey came up with some huge performances to score the bronze medal in the 400-yard individual medley and a fourth place in the 200 butterfly in representing the Pasadena City College men's swim team at the CCCAA State Championships held May 2-4 at De Anza College.

Humphrey (St. Francis High) opened the meet with a 10th place overall (second in the consolation final) in the 200 IM with a season-best 1:56.01 time, sixth fastest in PCC history. On day 2, the Lancers freshman showed his versatility with his 400 IM swim as he hit the wall in 4:06.37. In the same race Mt. San Antonio's Jason Harary won the state title and had the Men's Swimmer Performance of the Meet.

Humphrey though was 2.69 seconds faster than his time at the South Coast Conference Championships to place third and in the process posted the No. 4 all-time fastest mark at PCC.

In the 200 butterfly, Humphrey swam a 1:55.28 for a fourth place finish.

Freshman Harrison Tin had a season-best 58.55 swim in the 100 breaststroke to finish 12th overall and fourth in the consolation final. It was also the fourth fastest time in PCC history. Tin's personal best 2:11.45 in the 200 breaststroke earned him 11th overall and third in the consolation race.

As a team, PCC finished with 49 points and 21st overall out of 37 scoring colleges. PCC aquatics is directed by head coach Terry Stoddard. The Lancers are 13-1 in conference dual meets in the past two seasons.
