Pasadena City College men's swimmer Sam Regan swam 17:23.30 in the 1,650-yard freestyle to allow the Lancers to score as a team at the CCCAA State Championships held at East Los Angeles College on Saturday.
Pasadena City College freshman Sam Regan qualified for the A cut in the 1,650-yard freestyle and B cut for the 500 freestyle at the upcoming CCCAA State Swimming and Diving Championships to take place at East Los Angeles College May 5-7.
Lancer Sam Regan won the endurance-testing, 1,650-yard freestyle in a season-best 17:42.33 during the final day of the Pasadena/East Los Angeles Invitational held April 8-9 at East LA's Swim Stadium. As of Saturday, Regan's time was seventh fastest thus far in the state this year.
When it comes to Spring sports roster numbers, the best intentions for many coaches throughout the state have been stifled by first the COVID-19 pandemic, a shortened season with no champions in 2020, a cancelled season for 2021, and a 2022 season that has its roadblocks. For the Pasadena City College men's swim team, it learned that it would be without the PCC Aquatic Center, which was closed for the '22 season, forcing the Lancers off-campus to practice at nearby Pasadena Poly School.
