After two straight years without an individual champion, the Pasadena CIty College men's track and field team broke back into the winning column as Brennan Doyle is the 2018 South Coast Conference 400 meters champion.

Doyle participated at the SCC Championships held at El Camino College on April 27. The sophomore transfer Doyle, who originally went to Burbank High, raced 48.27 seconds to win the race by more than a second over the second-place finisher. Doyle has run faster with a 48.10 time at the Santa Barbara Easter Open meet on April 13. Ironically, the last PCC conference champion was also a winner of the 400 in Alexander McElwee in 2015 when he went on to also be the last Lancer to win a state title (also in that event). Four times PCC has won the 400 title since 2011.

Doyle scored 10 of the team's 32 points with that first place finish as Pasadena placed sixth out of seven teams in the final conference standings. Mt. San Antonio again won the conference team title.

Other Lancers points were scored by Martin Swan, who took third place in the 110 hurdles at 15.12 (six points), the 4x400 relay squad (third, 3:23.29, Uri Mafate, Doyle, Keyvan Duran, and anchor Swan, six points), the 4x100 relay squad (fourth, 43.32, five points), Miles Johnson in the high jump (sixth, 1.75 meters), Doyle in the 200 dash (22.83, eighth, one point), and Felipe Loera in the 1,500 (4:16.43, eighth, one point). Swan has the team's best state time in any event with a seventh ranking on his 14.83 performed at the Santa Barbara meet in the 110 hurdles.

PCC is directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike with help from assistant coach Pat Williams.
