Men's Track Whitt, Johnson Place High At Oxy Carnival

Miles Johnson placed second in the high jump event and Jared Whitt grabbed third in the triple jump as the Pasadena City College men's track and field team's best marks at the Oxy Distance Carnival meet held March 9 at Occidental College.

Johnson leaped a season-best 6-feet, 0.75 inches (17th in the state) while Whitt went 46-4 in the TJ, the longest leap of any college athlete at the event that included 4-year university and club team participants. Whitt remains ranked as the state's No. 2 athlete in the triple jump at 46-9. Justin Smith placed 11th in the TJ at 41-4.25.

Whitt placed seventh (21-6.75, state 23rd) and Smith ninth (21-6, 25th state) in the long jump. Dylan Che was 14th in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:58.29, allowing him to climb to No. 11 in the state rankings. 

Trevor Abe was 215th in the 5,000 meters at 16:54.44, 43rd among community college racers while Giovanni Guajardo was right behind him at 16:55.40. 

On Saturday, March 16, the Lancers return to the track for the Bakersfield College Relays. Events begin at 11 a.m.
