The year 2022 was a return to action for the Pasadena City College men's track and field team. But the college like several others in the traditonal individual sports didn't attract the numbers or the talent of previous years. The Lancers could only muster 11 team points to finish sixth place at the South Coast Conference Prelims/Championships held April 19 and 23 at El Camino College.
The last time the Pasadena City College men's track and field team performed at a home meet at Robinson Stadium was pre-pandemic February of 2020. On Friday, the Lancers finally returned to action in an on-campus meet in hosting the Pasadena Relays.
Michael Bartle raced to fourth place in the 800 meters to highlight the performances of the Pasadena City College men's track and field team at the 2022 South Coast Conference Opener meet held at Mt. San Antonio College on Feb. 4. It marked the first competition in two years for the Lancers as the 2022 season-opening meet.
Dick Railsback, a member of the Pasadena City College Sports Hall of Fame and a record-setting, U.S. pole vault champion, died at his home in Boise, Idaho on June 30 at the age of 75.
