Men's Cross Country 7th At SCC Finals, But Qualify For SoCal Meet

The Pasadena City College men's cross country team lives to run another day. Despite finishing in seventh place out of eight teams at the South Coast Conference Championships held Friday at Don Knabe Community Regional Park in Cerritos, the Lancers learned they had qualified as a team for the Southern California Championships this Friday, Nov. 2 also at Cerritos.

PCC was paced by sophomore Dylan Che, who placed 23rd overall out of 92 runners participating in the 4-mile race. Che ran a time of 21 minutes, 19.2 seconds. 

Freshman Giovanni Guajardo was next best for the Lancers in 28th at 21:34.3. The rest of the scoring Lancers were freshman Jose Campos (48th, 22:33.3), sophomore Trevor Abe (63rd, 23:24.1), and freshman Samuel Silva (65th, 23:38.5). Other PCC finishers were freshman William Su (75th, 24:28.6) and sophomore Jacob Reyes (80th, 24:51.5). PCC is directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike.

Mt. San Antonio captured its sixth straight SCC championship with Salvador Capetillo winning the race in 19:48.1.
