Sophomore Dylan Che advanced and qualified as an individual for the upcoming CCCAA State Meet, but his Pasadena City College men's cross country squad ended its 2018 team season Friday in taking 21st place out of 28 teams at the Southern California Championships. The meet was held at Don Knabe Community Regional Park in Cerritos.

Che placed 60th overall out of 193 racers over the 4-mile course in a PCC best time of 21 minutes, 4.7 seconds. Che shaved 14.5 seconds off his run at the South Coast Conference Championships. He improved by nearly 36 seconds from his time at the SoCal Preview Meet in September.

Another likely qualifier for the state meet is freshman Giovanni Guajardo, who made huge strides in finishing in 72nd place at 21:12.4. Giovanni improved by a full minute over his SoCal Preview run and nearly 22 seconds faster than the conference meet finish.

Lancers who completed their season were Jose Campos (120th, 22:07.1), William Su (138th, 22:27.7), Trevor Abe (148th, 22:42.5), Jacob Reyes (173rd, 24:12.7), and Samuel Silva (182nd, 25:26.9). Campos was 26 seconds faster and Su was an impressive two minutes better than his SCC meet run.

The CCCAA state meet takes place at Fresno's Woodward Park on Saturday, Nov. 17.

PCC men's cross country is directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike.
