The Pasadena City College men's cross country team took sixth place out of six teams on Friday at the Moorpark Invitational, but more importantly it was a return to racing for the Lancers who last saw action in November of 2019.

"The fact the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the 2020 season made just participating in a normal meet again so joyful," said PCC head coach Innocent Egbunike. "We have a lot of work to do but for some just getting on the course has been such a challenge after so many months off. Once we get back into the regular routine, there will be improvement for all."

Local freshman runner Ronnie Winn (Muir High) ran 24 minutes, 8 seconds over the Moorpark 4-mile course for the fastest time among Lancers harriers as he finished in 27th place (out of a 70-runner field). Returning sophomore Alec Fernandez was right behind his teammate in 28th (24:13). Freshman Philycius Oey (Temple City High) placed 48th, Etienne Deleage (John Marshall HS) was 57th, and Roux Alaka'i Adalin (Alhambra) 59th.

Glendale College won the Moorpark Invite with Austin Kuromi capturing the individual top placing in 21 minutes.

On September 4, PCC will next participate in the annual Cal State Fullerton Mark Covert Classic held at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea. The men's race is at 8:30 a.m.
