Going up against both 4-year universities and eight California Community Colleges, the Pasadena City College men's cross country team learned it has much work to get better after taking 19th place at the Biola Invitational on Friday morning.

The Lancers had no runners finish in the upper 68 percent of the 209-racer field as sophomore Alec Fernandez continues to be their best runner. Over an 8-kilometer course at Fullerton's Craig Regional Park, Fernandez placed 146th overall in a time of 29 minutes, 57 seconds.

Next for PCC was Philycius Oey in 162nd (30:39.7), then Ronnie Winn right behind him in 163rd (30:40).

The following three Lancers all ran in a pack and finished 194th, 195th and 196th. Roux Alaka'i Adalin raced 34:19. Etienne Deleage was next in 34:31 and Sam Regan at 34:47.

Host Biola won the men's team title and Riverside City College was the highest community college performer in fifth place. The fastest CCC runner was Mario Tavares of Riverside in 26:10, good enough for 28th place.
