Improving Men's Cross Country Team Place 11th At Golden West Classic

The Pasadena City College men's cross country team placed 11th out of 14 scoring teams at the Golden West Central Park Classic held on Sept. 24. Sophomore Alec Fernandez led an improved group of Lancers with a 52nd place in the 126-runner field.

Fernandez continues to be the team's fastest racer and he hit the finish line of the 4-mile course in a time of 23 minutes, 29.3 seconds. The next highest placing PCC runner was Philycius Oey in 54th at 23:32.4. Other scoring runners for the Lancers were Ronnie Winn in 70th (24:23), Etienne Deleage in 78th (24:56.6), and Roux Alaka'i Adalin in 92nd (25:51.9). Also participating for the team was Sam Regan who placed 99th in 27:01.6.

Cuyamaca won the team title behind race champion Diego Lopez (21:19.5). Pasadena was fourth out of five South Coast Conference teams in the GW Classic with Mt. San Antonio the highest of that bunch in sixth place. 

The Lancers will next be in action at the 30th Vanguard Invitational on Friday, Oct. 8 at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley.
