Third Straight 20-Win Season For Softball Coach Tantlinger

In just four seasons as Pasadena City College softball head coach, Monica Tantlinger has established her Lancers as a consistent winner. With a 4-2, non-conference, home victory over Orange Coast Monday, PCC posted its third consecutive 20-win season under Tantlinger's leadership.

Pasadena improved to 20-8-1 overall. The Lancers host Mt. San Antonio (26-3) with a chance to overtake the Mounties for the top spot in the South Coast Conference North Division. Mt. SAC is 6-0 in the conference while Pasadena is 6-1. Game time is 2:30 p.m. at Robinson Park.

Against Orange Coast, outfielder/designated player Brittany Gonzales launched two drives, the second a booming, 2-RBI double to right center that gave PCC a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning. She was 2-for-3 overall with three RBI. Bree Howard added a sacrifice fly. Leftfielder Jazmine Cabrera was 1-for-1 with two walks and leads the Lancers in batting with a .455 average.

Lancers starting pitcher Angel Wintercorn allowed just two hits, struck out eight and gave up no earned runs (walked five) as she went the complete game distance. She upped her record to 7-4 in the circle.

PCC has been on a roll recently, going 8-1-1 in its last 10 games, and 13-2-1 over the past 16 contests.
