Leiana Rodriguez, a sophomore transfer, was chosen to the 2024 All-South Coast Conference Second Team on Friday as the Pasadena City College softball season came to an end this past week.

It was a rebuilding year for the Lancers, who finished eighth in the difficult SCC (four teams in the top nine in RPI), and 8-26 overall for first-year head coach Audriana Gutierrez.

Rodriguez, who came to PCC after Rio Hondo College could not field a team, was a team leader on the Lancers. She batted .324 overall with 17 RBI (.339 average in conference games) while tying for the conference-lead in walks drawn with 24.

A second baseman-pitcher, Rodriguez threw 91.2 innings in the circle, earning four wins with a 3.97 ERA. She is a 2-time, all-conference selection after earning First Team honors last year at Rio Hondo.

Receiving All-SCC honorable mention were letterman catcher-centerfielder Alyssa Guzman (.342, 14 RBI) and transfer sophomore first baseman Monica Gutierrez, (.305) who slugged five home runs and drove in a team-high 26 RBI.

"I saw the improvement from early in the season to how well we played over the last month of the season," said Audriana Gutierrez.

"We had a stretch where we won four out of six games, but we were really competitive v. some of the better teams. We know we will have to recruit and bring in some new talent to go with some of our key freshmen. This was as much a learning experience for me to get that first year of directing the program under my belt. I feel confident that we will only get better in 2025 and beyond."
