The Pasadena City College women's basketball team saw its season end on a sour note as state No. 3-ranked and No. 3 seed Mt. San Jacinto routed the visiting Lancers, 81-46, in a Southern California Regional Playoff Round 2 game Saturday night.

The lone brightspot of the evening for PCC was when sophomore Alisa Shinn hit a basket with four minutes left in the second quarter, allowing her to become only fourth Lancer in school history to reach 1,000 points in her community college career. The 6-foot-3 sophomore forward-center finished with just 10 points but she is now the No. 4 all-time leading scorer at 1,004 points. She is the first post player to achieve the milestone as the other three players were guards, all who used 3-point baskets to help reach the magical four figures.

As for the game, the 14th-seed Lancers (18-14) were never in the postseason contest as MSJC (28-2) jumped out to a 16-0 lead before Shinn hit a jumper with 2:41 left in the first quarter, the only points for PCC in the 10-minute period. The Eagles led 23-2, holding the Lancers to their lowest scoring quarter since quarters were introduced to collegiate women's basketball to start the 2016-17 season.

Mt. San Jacinto built the lead to 30-4 before the Lancers had their only real scoring spurt of the game in the second quarter. PCC went on a 15-3 run and cut the lead to 36-19 by halftime. Led by All-State forward Britney Thomas with 26 points, the Eagles kept the intensity going in the final two quarters to finish out a 36-point victory. It was PCC's third-worst playoff, and most lopsided since a 50-point defeat against Ventura (103-53) in 2002.

Frosh center Mercy Odima ended up leading the Lancers with 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists (7-for-10 from the free throw line). Freshman guard Jade Lin added 12 points with steals. Shinn and point guard Samaiyah Abdullah (three points) both closed out their 2-year PCC careers.

Shinn's 671 points this season in 32 games (21-points average) are the second most by a PCC player in its history, only exceeded by PCC Hall of Fame forward Tiana Sanders, who scored 744 points in 1998-1999. Shinn is the first Lancer to score at least 600 points and grab 400 (422) rebounds in the same season. She averaged 13.2 rebounds to finish in the top six in the state in rebounding.

PCC head coach Joe Peron, who is at 502 victories in his 22-year career at the college, holds a 36-20 record in all playoff games. This was the 19th time in 21 postseason appearances that the Lancers advanced past the first round of regionals.
