Recently achieving the 1,000-point plateau, Pasadena City College women's basketball team center-forward Alisa Shinn was honored as a selection on the All-State Second Team. The sophomore Shinn was earlier named the South Coast Conference North Division Player of the Year.

Shinn was one of the state's best post players as she averaged a conference-leading 21 points a game (10th in California) and 13.2 rebounds (sixth in the state). She made it to No. 4 on the Lancers All-Time Scoring List at 1,004. She is the first Lancer to score four digits and grab at least 600 rebounds in a career. Her 671 points this season is the second highest single-season total behind only PCC Hall of Famer Tiana Sanders (744, 1998-1999).

The 6-foot-3 Shinn, who was a CIF Player of the Year at Crescenta Valley High, played on two PCC teams that reached the Southern California Regional Playoffs. She set a Lancers playoff record for most rebounds with 23 and tied the school's points record of 35 in a first round win over San Diego City College.

In the 32-game season (Pasadena finished 18-14), Shinn set a new PCC standard by scoring 30 or more points seven times. She tied freshman center Mercy Odima as the only Lancers to ever total five 20-plus rebound games in a single season. Shinn scored 41 points, the second-highest scoring game in school history in a loss to conference champion LA Trade Tech.

Shinn scored her points in a variety of ways, including jumpers, offensive rebound follow-up shots, finger-roll layups, and bank shots from 12 to 15 feet in range. She often drew double-team defenses in the post and despite plenty of physical play near the basket, never fouled out of a game.

"Without Alisa's production, I don't know how we could have possibly made the postseason this year," said PCC head coach Joe Peron. "She will even years from now be known as one of the great players in our history. She is a wonderful talent in the post and we'll miss her presence near the basket."

Shinn is the first PCC player to be named All-State since Regerina Baker was a Third Team selection in 2014-15.
