The Pasadena City College women's basketball team completed a 3-0 run to proclaim itself champions of the PCC Round Robin Classic after routing San Diego City College, 64-39, Saturday afternoon at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

The Lancers are off to their best start since the 2012-13 season at 5-0 overall. Against SD City, Cosette Balmy scored a game-high 24 points to go with six steals while tourney MVP Dariel Johnson contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, seven blocks and five steals. Kailey Thai had eight points and Mariah Cathcart scored seven.

"It felt good to finally win three games straight in our own tournament," said PCC head coach Joe Peron, who has won numerous tourney titles in his 23 years of directing the Lancers. "It's been over three years since we've been crowned the champions. This is a really good group that I'm coaching this year, one that I enjoy their togetherness. We have 12 new players on the roster, and we haven't had depth like this since the 2006-2007 season.

"To win against a team like College of the Sequoias (on Friday night) has helped to raise our confidence level in what we can accomplish this year."

In other PRRC finales, Imperial Valley beat College of the Desert, 68-54, while Sequoias downed Citrus, 77-61.

The Lancers are off until Thursday, November 29 when they face Reedley at the College of the Sequoias Tournament.
