The accolades for Pasadena City College redshirt freshman Dariel Johnson continued with her selection to the 2018-19 All-State Women's Basketball First Team. Johnson, a 6-2 center, was one of six players in the South Region chosen to the first of the three teams.

Johnson is the first Lancer in five years to earn First Team state honors when center Kaitlyn Parks was chosen to the elite squad in 2013-14.

Johnson, who was the South Coast Conference Freshman of the Year, was named CCCSIA State Women's Athlete of the Month for January. She led the state in overall blocked shots with 128 and was third in rebounds average at 14.5 per game. She was PCC's leading scorer at 14.8 points per game.

Johnson set a school record for blocks in a game with 12 and was the first PCC player to earn a points-rebounds-blocks type triple double when she accomplished the feat in the championship game victory by the Lancers at the Crossover Challenge Tournament on Jan. 11.

Johnson came all the way back after a concussion caused her to miss nearly the entire 2014-15 season (played just the first three games). She returned to the program after a 3-year layoff this season. Not only did Johnson have a banner year, she did so not playing at her natural position as a guard-forward. Instead, the Pasadena High grad volunteered to play the post for Coach Joe Peron's '18-19 Lancers.

She led the team to a SoCal Regional #6 seed, a 19-11 overall record, and an appearance in the regional finals. The Lancers were selected No. 14 in the Final CCCSIA State Top 20 Rankings.
