Ikidi Keeps All-State Streak Going For PCC Women's Basketball

For the fifth straight season, the Pasadena City College women's basketball team placed a player on the All-State Team. Transfer sophomore center Tena Ikidi was chosen to the '22-23 First Team after leading the state in total rebounds with a PCC school-record 468.

Ikidi averaged Lancers highs with 14.6 points, 15.6 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks averages. She led California players in offensive rebounds (199) and was third in total blocks (82).

After totaling just eight boards in her PCC debut, Ikidi, raised in Nigeria, grabbed double digits in rebounds in each of the next 29 games. Six times she reached 20 or more rebounds with a high of 25 in a win over Cerritos.

She totaled double-double in points/rebounds in 25 of the team's 30 games.

Ikidi's selection extends an All-State streak for the Lancers that started in 2017-18 with Alissa Shinn (Second Team), then Dariel Johnson in back-to-back seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20 (both First Team), Cosette Balmy also in '19-20 (Third Team), followed after the COVID-19 cancellation of 2020-21 by Lupe Sanchez in '21-22 (Second Team).

PCC head coach Joe Peron has directed at least one All-State player in eight of the last nine seasons.
