Two positive things happened early in the Pasadena City College women's soccer team's non-conference match September 6 at Norco College. First, the Lancers scored their first two goals of the season after suffering shutout defeats in their first two games against Santa Ana and West Los Angeles. Second, PCC had the luxury of building a 2-0 lead against the host Mustangs.

Despite the strong beginnings, things unraveled for the Lancers as Norco scored three unanswered goals to rally for a 3-2 victory. PCC remains winless this year at 0-3.

In the 13th minute, Isabel Diaz took a pass from inside the goalie box from Chloe Twitchell and scored PCC's first goal in 193 minutes of play this year. Just six minutes later, Juliana Gurule fed sophomore All-South Coast Conference midfielder Sandra Ambrosio, who blasted a 25-yard drive into the upper net for a 2-0 PCC lead.

Norco responded with three goals in a 15-minute span from late in the first half to early in the second. A goal by Marlsol Bravo was the game winner in the 56th minute.

"It's been a very frustrating situation for us because we felt we controlled the play for most of the three games," said PCC head coach Reggie Rivas. "We plan on making some adjustments and hope to turn things around. I'm confident that it will start to go our way soon."

The Lancers play at Antelope Valley College on Friday, Sept. 9 in 5 p.m. kickoff.
