It had been a long time since the Pasadena City College women's soccer team had scored a goal. In fact, after seven straight shutouts (0-6-1), the Lancers wondered if they would ever net another one. On Friday, PCC found its touch with Sandra Ambrosio scoring three second-half goals in a 5-0, South Coast Conference crossover win over hapless El Camino-Compton Center at Robinson Stadium.

The Lancers improved to 3-9-3 overall. Isabel Diaz put an end to a streak that had reached 645 minutes when she cradled a deflection off a Compton defender and tapped it in for a 1-0 PCC lead in the 15th minute. 

After taking that advantage halftime, Ambrosio got things rolling 1:05 into the second half with a left-footed blast into the upper far corner on a shot from the sideline at the 5-yard line. A minute later, Diaz sent a cross in the box that Ambrosio punched in for a 3-0 lead. In the 66th minute, Ambrosio sent a lead pass to Emily Matthiesen, who scored on the breakaway. Finally in the 85 minute, Ambrosio picked up the hat trick as she again used her strong leg and accuracy with a perfect drive from the side of the box into the upper corner. 

Ambrosio was also the last Lancer to record a 3-goal game as she did it against Compton last year on Nov. 6 in a game that was also played at Robinson Stadium.

Pasadena outshot Compton, 40-1, and had numerous scoring opportunities against the Tartars, who came to the game with only 10 healthy players and were down to nine for most of the second half. Compton (1-12-1) has been outscored this season, 105-2, and suffered its 12th straight shutout. 

Coach Reggie Rivas' Lancers next travel to face El Camino on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in a 2 p.m. crossover match.
