The current Pasadena City College women's soccer team probably didn't want to know how long it had been since the last Lancers goal in a road game. It was approaching 500 consecutive minutes of playing time and 23 months of actual time when Angie Alvarado launched a corner kick that curved into the net for a PCC goal 6:16 into Friday's non-conference game at Los Angeles Valley College.
The goal was the first this season on the road after four shutout defeats and it ignited the Lancers to a 4-1 win. Three minutes into the second half, Bertha Guzman scored on a penalty goal for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Devin Zamora gave a perfect pass to a waiting Olivia Aguilar near the far post as Aguilar made it 3-0 at the 57-minute mark. Leading 3-1, Gabby Morales fed Zamora who beat a LAVC defender, ripping a shot into the upper part of the net to cap the scoring with 13 minutes remaining.
PCC upped its record to 2-5 in Terryn Soelberg's first road victory as Lancers head coach.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, Pasadena hosts Norco College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game at Robinson Stadium.
