Last year as freshmen, Melissa Cienega and Jocelyn Jo shared the South Coast Conference Swimmer of the Year honors. The Lancers dynamic duo is back at it as sophomores in winning three events each Friday as the Pasadena City College women's swim team swept their SCC double dual-opening meet over El Camino, 122-105, and Long Beach City College, 134-86, during a constant rain at the Aquatic Center.

Cienega coasted to wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:59.50, won by 108 seconds), 200 butterfly (2:23.59, won by 31 seconds), and 200 backstroke (2:23.89, won by 56 seconds). Jo captured first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.63), 200 breaststroke (2:33.37), and 200 individual medley (2:23.64).

Freshman Haley Ragusa won the combined 1-3 meter board diving competition with 200.50 points, 13.35 more than El Camino's Athena Katsouridis. Ragusa is undefeated in the 1-meter board in all three meets this year.

Sophomore Sharon Perez was a winner in the 100 backstroke (1:09.87) and placed second in both the 50 and 100 freestyles. The team opened with a victory in the 200 medley relay behind Perez, Jo, Cienega and Lindsay Jensen. The letterman Jensen also scored two third places in the 500 and 1,000 freestyles.

El Camino swimmer Cindy Ngo won three events, sweeping the three freestyle sprints.
