The term "like a broken record" is what Carmen Ung is performing for the Pasadena City College women's swim team. Ung broke her own school record for the second time in the 100-yard breaststroke, but this time she crushed the standard.

Ung swam 1.24 seconds faster than her previous mark and her 1:05.67 time that won the event at Friday's South Coast Conference double dual meet v. El Camino and Rio Hondo is nearly two seconds (1.88) better than the old PCC record set by Arolyn Basham in 2014. Because the pattern of college swimming is swimmers often don't peak until conference championships means Ung will likely continue to best the mark.

Ung also won the 200 breaststroke event at 2:28.45, which is not a record but already No. 2 on the all-time best swim list behind record-holder Jocelyn Jo, set just last year at 2:26.77. Ung (2:15.25) was beaten in the 200 individual medley by El Camino's Ida Due by .49 of a second.

Overall, the Lancers downed host Rio Hondo, 114-94, and were defeated by El Camino, 131-80. PCC is 1-3 in SCC meets.

Other Pasadena victories were turned in by Carolina Lopez in the 100 freestyle (1:05.99) and by the 200 medley relay squad of Lopez, Ung, Fernanda Alvarez, and Anna Herrin as they touched the wall in 2:20.09.

Second place finishes included Yvette Rosales in the 1,000 freestyle (12:59.18), 100 butterfly (1:14.80), and 100 freestyle (1:09.07), Lopez in the 100 backstroke (1:20.61) and 500 freestyle (6:50.40), and Alvarez in the 200 backstroke (2:45.77).

The Lancers will swim at their home pool--PCC Aquatic Center--for the first time this season when they host a SCC double dual against Cerritos and LA Trade Tech Colleges on Friday, March 22 at 12:30 p.m
