Ung Wins 3 Events, But Cerritos Downs Women's Swim

Carmen Ung once again swept her three individual events, but her Pasadena City College women's swim team settled for a 139-68 defeat in a South Coast Conference dual meet Friday at the Aquatic Center.

Ung rolled to a 26-second margin of victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, although slower than her school record set last meet in a time of 1:06.76 (1:05.67 is her best time). She went on to take first place in the 50 freestyle (25.51) and 100 freestyle (55.47). 

No other PCC swimmer won an event but there were second place finishes by Yvette Rosales in the 1,000 freestyle (12:55.13), 200 butterfly (2:42.38) and 100 butterfly (1:14.70), while Fernanda Alvarez was second in the 200 backstroke (2:48.28) and Carolina Lopez grabbed second in the 200 freestyle (2:27.50).

Pasadena is 1-4 in SCC meets. Cerritos (4-1) was paced by Joanna Porras, who won the 200 freestyle, 200 butterfly, and 100 butterfly. 

The Lancers close dual meet action on Friday, Mar. 29 when they host Mt. San Antonio and East Los Angeles in a double conference dual. Meet time is 12:30 p.m. at the Aquatic Center.
