Pasadena City College's Nickey Hale collected some hardware at the CCCAA State Swim/Dive Championships with her fifth place medal in the 400-yard individual medley on Friday. Hale's time of 4:58.20 is the third fastest time in PCC's swim history.
Nickey Hale is another in a long line of Pasadena City College women's swimmers who excelled at the South Coast Conference Championships. In the conference meet held at the indoor East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium April 21-23, Hale scored first-place medals in winning the 500-yard freestyle and versatile 400 individual medley events.
The Pasadena City College women's swim team hasn't had the numbers it had hoped this season. On April 8-9 at the Pasadena/East Los Angeles Invitational held at ELAC, the Lancers were finally able to produce a relay squad to go with several solid swims overall.
A difficult South Coast Conference dual meet season ended for the Pasadena CIty College women's swim team on Friday, but now the individual accomplishments of Nickey Hale will come into bloom in the next few weeks. A short-handed Lancers team lost a double dual against Cerritos and host East Los Angeles College.
NIckey Hale is establishing herself as one of the most versatile athletes in the water as she led the Pasadena City College women's swim team into the 2022 season with sharp performances in their opening two meets.
