Hale Earns Wins To Highlight First 2 Women's Swim Meets

NIckey Hale is establishing herself as one of the most versatile athletes in the water as she led the Pasadena City College women's swim team into the 2022 season with sharp performances in their opening two meets.

At the Mt. SAC Invitational Feb. 25-26, Hale won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 20 minutes, 13.9 seconds. Hale also earned second in the 500 freestyle (5:39.37), third in the 200 butterfly (2:29.38), fourth in the 50 butterfly (29.50 seconds), fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:27.88), and sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:07.36). 

Lilian Tahmasian was 12th overall in the 500 freestyle with a personal best time of 6:09.69, 20 seconds better than her previous time. She also was 23rd in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.67). Lilah Caputi scored 16th in the 100 backstroke (1:15.45) and placed 22nd in the 50 freestyle (28.44). Berte Montes took 28th in the 100 butterfly.

PCC finished 10th in both the 200 freestyle relay in 1:57.17 and 400 freestyle relay (4:18.61).  

At the season-opening SCC Pentathlon, held at El Camino College on Feb. 18, Hale won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:26.04, followed by Tahmasian 15th, Caputi 20th, and Emily Montes 37th. 

Hale captured the 100 freestyle first place win in 57.32. Caputi was 12th (1:03.24) and Tahmasian 25th. Hale scored second in the 100 butterfly (1:05.51) while Tahmasian placed 19th, Caputi 20th, and Montes 24th.  

On Friday, March 4, PCC will open SCC dual team competition with a double dual meet v. Mt. San Antonio and El Camino at ECC. Pasadena is directed by head coach Terry Stoddard in his 22nd season.
