Pasadena City College women's track and field sophomore Kessa Rychlick ran the state's fifth fastest time this year Friday in the 400-meter hurdles at one minute, 5.64 seconds at the San Diego Mesa Arnie Robinson Invitational.

Rychlick placed fourth overall in the event. She beat her previous best mark by six seconds. Rychlick also won her heat and took sixth overall in the 100 hurdles with another season-best time of 16.17 seconds, good enough to be ranked 18th in the state. She still is 48th in the state from an earlier season race in the 400 meters.

Kaitlin Lee was 16th in the 100 meters at 14.58 followed by Claire Chen in 17th (14.73). Abigail Olivares took 15th in the 200 (30.37), Lee 16th (31.39) and Chen 17th (31.95). Amanda Noriega placed 10th in the 800 (3:04.25) and Raylin Galvan was 11th (3:20.15).

At the El Camino Invitational on March 22, Rychlick was third in the 100 hurdles (17.14) and Chen sixth (19.06). The 4x100 relay team of Lee, Chen, Olivares, and Rychlick placed second with a time of 54.58.
