The Pasadena City College women's track and field team participated in a pair of meets, including Saturday's Glendale Vaquero Classic on Saturday as it prepares for the South Coast Conference Championships later this month.

Team captain Liz Ghazanchian led the way with second place overall finishes in the shot put at 31-11.25 feet and discus in 122-8. Ghazanchian has already qualified for the state meet in the discus with her season-best 126-1 (38.44 meters) performed at the Pasadena Invite meet on Mar. 24. That is 12th in the state thus far. The sophomore thrower is 25th in the state in the shot put, her best being a 33-11.5 at the Bakersfield Relays last month. 

The 4x100 relay team of Joelyne Garcia, Sophia Malki, Ashley Comanescu, and Crystal Ludwig raced fifth in a 51.92 seconds time (currently 25th in state). 

Garcia placed fourth in the javelin at 95-4, but has yet to reach her season-best of state #11 (106-10) that she hurled at the Cerritos SCC Season Opener meet back on Feb. 11. 

Melissa Le was sixth in the javelin and moved to 31st in the state with a 92-8 toss. Ludwig's 89-8 was seventh and 38th in state. 

Ludwig posted a season-best 15-9.5 to score 10th in the long jump, a mark that places her 44th in state. 

Malki placed 11th in the 100 meters (13.16) and 12th in the 200 (27.56). Ludwig was 13th in the 100 (13.30). Comanescu was 14th in the 200 (28.35) and  Sabrina Roman scored 22nd in the 800 at 2:49.90.

At the El Camino Dave Shannon Invitational held April 1, Ajes Phillips placed fourth in the 400 meters with her 1:02.04 time, now 41st in state. Garcia's 99-2 was fifth in the javelin and Julianna Antunez leaped 4-2 for eighth in the high jump. 

Coach Innocent Egbunike's Lancers await the SCC Prelims/Championships on April 25 and April 29 at Cerritos College.
