While the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team has had its ups and downs this season, one player has been a steady presence on offense. Freshman outside hitter Paige Clingaman has turned into the Lancers top kills leader and she was impressive again Friday with 11 kills and a .435 hitting percentage in the team's sweep over Los Angeles Trade Tech, 25-13, 25-11, 25-14.

The Lancers are a perfect 5-0 in matches on its home Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium floor and 12-7 overall under first-year head coach Mike Terrill.

Clingaman, who grew up and established her volleyball talents in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has found PCC to her liking. She is averaging 2.97 kills (196 overall) and her .245 attack percentage also tops the team. 

"It seems like every time, we look at the statsheet, there's Paige hitting consistently, putting the ball away frequently," Terrill said. "We hit well as a team against Trade Tech. We showed some great resiliency against El Camino. The players know that we are capable of being a better team. It showed tonight."

Terrill referred to the Lancers 3-set loss at state No. 10-ranked El Camino, a match where twice PCC sent the Warriors to extra points, 25-12, 26-24, 26-24. Clingaman scored 10 kills in the defeat. Middle blocker Lania Potter added six kills and six blocks. 

Against Trade Tech, Vanessa Lopez was another standout as she recorded 11 kills and served four aces. The Lancers hit .319, a 2016 season best. Potter added six kills.

On Wednesday, Oct. 26, the Lancers face a tough test when it travels to face No. 18-ranked Long Beach City College. The South Coast Conference crossover match begins at 6 p.m.
