The unranked Pasadena City College women's volleyball team ran into a buzz saw Friday as state No. 16-ranked El Camino swept the Lancers, 25-21, 25-13, 25-13, and snapped their 6-match winning streak in a South Coast Conference crossover. The match at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium lasted only 70 minutes.

The SCC North Division-leading Lancers dropped to 11-9 overall. El Camino (13-4) , sore from losing the SCC South lead to Long Beach and then getting beat by #13 MiraCosta, hit an outstanding .372 overall and rode the hitting of Aiko Waters (13 kills, 11 digs, hit .440) and Jerephina Leilua (10 kills, .474).

PCC played well in the opening set, rallying down 17-12 to cut it to 23-21. A service error by the Lancers was followed by a kill from ECC's Leilua for set point. The last two sets were all El Camino as the Lancers could muster just 26 total points, including only15 kills.

Vanessa Lopez had six kills and made 11 digs while Emily Leung set 25 assists. Middle blocker Rachel Johnson was the lone accurate Lancer with 6 kills in just 13 attempts (hit .308). Two strengths of the Lancers in recent weeks were missing v. El Camino. PCC served only one ace and had no block kills against the talented Warriors.

On Oct. 13, the Lancers swept host Chaffey, 25-12, 25-20, 25-18, as Paige Clingaman powered 10 kills (hit .391) and Leung totaled 36 assists, three aces and two dump kills.

On Tuesday, Oct. 24, PCC hosts Riverside City College in a non-conference match, beginning at 5 p.m.
