Perfect In Conference Season For Women's Volleyball

After its 4-set victory over Chaffey Friday night, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team can proclaim itself undeated South Coast Conference North Division champions at 8-0. The host Lancers closed out the regular season at 17-9 overall in winning 12 of its last 13 matches.

The Lancers won by scores of 25-14, 25-11, 23-25, 25-9. On Sophomore Night, Vanessa Lopez scored a double-double on 11 kills and 10 digs and Lania Potter added 10 kills in just 17 attempts (.529 attack). Freshman Rachel Johnson hit .409 and knocked down 11 kills with four blocks. Emily Leung tallied 36 assists and Kendall Schmedes chpped in four kills, three aces, eight digs and five blocks. Kelsey Sarreal totaled 16 digs (and two kills) and Grace Crawford 14 digs while also serving four aces. 

PCC honored sophomores Schmedes, Leung, Lopez, Paige Clingaman, Potter, and Sarreal in a post-match ceremony. Clingaman sang the national anthem prior to the match, then scored seven kills.

Pasadena will find out its playoff seed next week and conference coaches will select the All-SCC North team.
