Three Pasadena City College players were selected to the All-South Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Team as the Lancers have earned the No. 12 seed for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. PCC was ranked #22 in the final regular season CCCWVCA State Top 25 Rankings.
Freshman outside hitter Nalani Young was the lone All-SCC First Team selection after averaging 2.9 kills and 3.2 digs a set during the regular season. Frosh outside hitter Erykah Wilson and sophomore libero Grace Crawford made it to the All-SCC Second Team. Wilson averaged 2.9 kills and 1.35 digs a set and also served 39 aces. Crawford is the school's record holder in both career digs (699) and single-season digs (currently 384 this season) and she is averaging 4.2 digs per set.
Pasadena (19-9) makes its third straight appearance in the postseason and its #12 seed is the highest since head coach Mike Terrill took over the program in 2016. PCC will face a state #11 and SoCal #5 seed in Moorpark (15-3). Their first round match will take place Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Moorpark with a 6 p.m. first serve. On Sept. 11, the teams met and it ended in a Raiders sweep over the Lancers, 25-16, 25-22, 25-22. Moorpark is the Western State Conference North Division champions while PCC placed fourth in the SCC this season.
The Lancers struggled in the last part of the season, finishing with a 3-5 mark over their final eight matches, including two straight defeats during the SCC Championship Tournament to two final state-ranked teams in second place Long Beach (#15) and third place Rio Hondo (#25).
Moorpark is paced by freshman outside hitter Janessa Valoaga, who is averaging 3.6 kills with an outstanding .331 hitting percentage. The Raiders will have gone nearly two weeks, however, without playing a match while the Lancers played their last match on Tuesday.
