Although there are seven runners so far listed on the 2018 Pasadena City College women's cross country roster, only one--Amanda Noriega--represented the Lancers Friday at the season-opening Ventura Invitational held at Arroyo Verde Park.
Noriega, a freshman from Crescenta Valley High, placed 25th overall out of 48 runners who took part in the 5-kilometer race. She ran the course in a time of 26 minutes, 50.1 seconds.
Riverside City College won the team race while Ventura's Olivia Burton placed first overall with a time of 21:49.45.
Sophomores Raylin Galvan, the team's top runner last season, Julia Reyes and Betsy Ramirez are expected to compete at a later date as well as freshmen Valerie Zavala (Verdugo Hills High) and twin sisters Hana Kasim and Wafa Kasim (from Burroughs High in Burbank).
PCC women's cross country is directed by head coach Innocent Egbunike, in his third season guiding the Lancers.
