With top runner Carissa Guardado nursing a minor injury to prepare for the final championship meets, Dariana Estrada stepped into the role of No. 1 runner for the Pasadena City College women's cross country team at the Mt. San Antonio Invite on Friday.

Estrada, a freshman from Eagle Rock High, placed 56th in the 70-runner field as the fastest Lancer with a time of 26:41 over the 3-mile course.

Jessica Coffin was right behind Estrada in 57th (27:01.3) while Estrella Camacho-Rodriguez finished 69th (33:05). The Lancers did not score as a team.

Guardado is expected back for the South Coast Conference Championships to be held Oct. 29 at Wilson Park in Torrance (hosted by Compton College).
