In only his sixth season in charge of the Pasadena City College baseball program, Pat McGee hit milestone career victory No. 100 as Lancers head coach on Friday. Pasadena rallied with six runs in the eighth inning to erase a 5-1 deficit and defeat host College of the Desert, 9-5.

McGee, who directed the Lancers to South Coast Conference titles in 2017 and in 2019, also has sent his squads to the SoCal Regional Playoffs each of the last three seasons. In that 3-year span, McGee coached 74 victories, nearly 25 a season. The program has produced numerous "firsts" in PCC baseball history, as well as breaking several individual and team records.

PCC, now 3-4 on the young season, travel to face SoCal power Glendale College in a 6 p.m. game Saturday, Feb. 8.

Against COD, PCC scored two runs on an error that cut the lead to 5-3 in the seventh. In the eighth, bases-loaded walks to reserve catcher Jaren Surdo and centerfielder Gabe Arellano tied the contest, then leftfielder Aryonis Harrison hit a sacrifice fly for the lead. All-American first baseman Marco Martinez followed with a 2-RBI triple and shortstop Jacob Ogle singled him in to cap the long rally.

Lefty reliever Chase Pedersen deposited the mound win with 2.1 innings of no-hit relief. Designated cleanup hitter Thomas Kolling continues his hot streak with a 2-for-3 day, including two walks and a RBI double. Kolling is batting .414 with two homers, three doubles and 10 RBI in just seven games. Martinez collected his 11th walk, most in the SoCal Region and now one behind state leader Jesse Holguin of Reedley (played in two more games than Marco).
