Rob Cushman, who has served as a college football coach during now six different decades, is in his second season at Pasadena City College in charge of quarterbacks/running backs as well as co-offensive coordinator (run game) in 2022. Cushman was the head coach at NCAA Division III Occidental College (2017-2019), but had his position eliminated when the school axed its football program in 2020. 

This season is part of his third tour of duty at the California Community College level. In 2021, Cushman helped the development of All-SCFA First Team quarterback and MVP of the SoCal Bowl--Kade Wentz. The team's rushing game was solid at 154.1 yards per contest.

Besides Occidental, Cushman was a head coach at the 4-year university level at D3 Eastern Oregon (1997-2001), D3 Augustana College, Illniois (2011-2014), and D3 University of Minnesota-Morris (2015-2016). Cushman is familiar with community college football as the first head coach of then a brand new program started at Feather River College (Quincy, Calif.) from 2002-2006. At FRC, he compiled a winning 34-21 record, directing the Golden Eagles to bowl games in all five of his seasons. 

Cushman served as a defensive coordinator at another community college--Butte (1981-1984), as well as stints as the DC at Eastern Oregon (1986-1997), and at Augustana (2008-2010). 

He began his coaching career in 1979-1980 as an assistant coach for Chico State. Cushman also spent one year as a defensive backs coach at D3 Ithaca College (New York) in 2007. 

"Cush" held head coaching positions in the high school ranks in California at Marysville High (1984-85) and at St. Helena High during the 1986-87 school year.

Cushman played four years of college football at the University of Puget Sound (Washington state) and upon his graduation with a bachelor's degree he started his coaching career the very next year. He also earned a master's in physical educationi at Chico State in 1982.
