  • Men Basketball's Deandro Worrell Signs With McMurry University

    Pasadena City College men's basketball sophomore forward-center Deandro Worrell has signed to continue his playing/educational career with NCAA Division III McMurry University in Abline, Tx. For Worrell, it's going back to his home state of Texas for the two-year letterman as the 6-foot-6 talent originally came to PCC from El Dorado High in El Paso.

    After falling behind by as much as 13 points late in the first half and nine at halftime, 42-33, the Pasadena City College men's basketball team looked for someone to energize the troops. Sophomore forward Deandro Worrell took on the task, scoring 15 of his 18 points in the second half to lift the Lancers over Mt. San Antonio, 85-69, at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium Wednesday evening.

    On a Friday night when Pasadena City College men's basketball guard Rasheet Wilson poured in 39 points, he wasn't even the game's leading scorer as Los Angeles Trade Tech's Mark Chin scored 40 points as part of a triple-double. South Division opponents were a nightmare for the Pasadena City College men's basketball team in 2020. Cerritos extended PCC's losing streak to six games, 91-85, on Friday at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. It was also the fifth consecutive defeat v. a SCC South opponent since the start of the new year.

On Wednesday, LA Harbor rallied from 15 points down midway through the second half and handed PCC a 72-71 defeat in a South Coast Conference crossover game at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

    George Terzian, the winningest men's basketball coach in Pasadena City College history, has died at the age of 83 after a determined battle with cancer. Terzian passed away on Sunday at his home in Altadena.

    Joe Barnes, who was an assistant coach on two state champion Pasadena City College men's basketball teams and was the head coach when Lakers great Michael Cooper attended PCC, died last night at the age of 79. Barnes served as a chemistry professor in Natural Sciences for 35 years before retiring in 2005.
