Jesse Ellis is in his 13th year with the Lancer coaching staff and 27th season serving as a main assistant. That includes eight years coaching at Mt. San Antonio College. Ellis helped coach two South Coast Conference Championships in that time with the Mounties.
In 2018-19, Ellis served as acting head coach while then head coach Michael Swanegan was on a brief medical leave, and the team went 3-2 under his direction.
He spent nine years coaching at the varsity level at Duarte High School. For six of those years, Ellis was the assistant coach to Swanegan. In this short amount of time, Duarte won five league championships, made three CIF Southern Section semifinal appearances, and one CIF quarterfinals showing.
Ellis also played his prep ball at Duarte where he was a three-time, All-CIF performer. In his senior year, Ellis was named a Prep All-American selection by Basketball Times. Ellis received an athletic scholarship to Idaho State University.
