Men's Cross Country Improving, 8th At Golden West Classic

The Pasadena City College men's cross country team placed three runners in the top 50 and finished eighth overall at the Golden West Central Park Classic held in Huntington Beach Friday morning.

The Lancers were led once again by freshman Asa Barton who raced to 16th overall out of 158 runners. Barton ran 22:14.30 over the 4-mile course. Sophomore Giovanni Guajardo hit the line in 44th (23:14.02), and freshman Alec Fernandez had a breakout race by scoring 49th in 23:23.86.

The rest of the PCC squad finished as follows: Jose Campos in 65th (24:00.84), Jose Fuentes in 103rd (25:45), Jordan Jiang in 108th (25:51), Karvin Li in 127th (26:57), and Jalen Kelley in 138th (28:40). 

Santa Ana's Giovanni Barajas captured the individual race crown in 21:03.33 while Orange Coast won team title over 12 other scoring colleges. 

Coached by Innocent Egbunike, PCC will return to action on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Cerritos Falcons Invitational.
