After finishing second in goals and total points among California Community College players, Pasadena City College sophomore midfielder Katy Coats was named to the CCCSCA 2019 Women's Soccer All-State Team.

Coats put together the second-highest goals season by a PCC player with 31. Only Kelley Hull scored more in PCC history when she netted 34 goals in the 1997 season, the inaugural year of the program.

Coats, from Maranatha High, added 11 assists to give her 73 points. Fellow All-State selection and San Diego Mesa College forward Violet Renard edged out Coats for the state scoring titles with 35 goals and 76 total points.

In her 2-year PCC career, Coats is now third on the all-time scoring list with 42 goals and 97 points. Hull (53 goals, 129 points) is #1 while PCC Sports Hall of Famer Jennifer Fish (51 goals, 117 points, 1998-1999) is #2. Coats accomplished her totals 20 years after Fish's feats.

"Katy is a prolific scorer and deserves this special recognition," said PCC head coach Francisco Cantero. "She worked very hard to get so many big goals for us. She didn't just shoot the ball, she is an exceptional passer. Playing against some of the state's top teams in the South Coast Conference, Katy held her own even when there were times she was double-teamed."

Coats was at her best at home games at Robinson Stadium as she scored 22 goals in 11 contests played on a new for 2019 artificial turf surface at PCC. She had four hattricks, including twice scoring five goals in a game v. both Imperial Valley and West Los Angeles. The 2-time, All-South Coast Conference First Team selection also scored two goals in a game six different times.
